Narrated by: Christopher John Fetherolf
Series: The Tome of Bill, Book 7
Length: 15 hrs and 2 mins

1st of all, let me just say that a lot of awesome stuff happens in this book.  Thus, the wicked Dead really progressed the story.

Story

Bill has to really confront his darker side, the side that he calls Doctor Death, before fulfilling the edict that Joshua gave hi whilst surrounded by the rest of the 1st Coven in the underground bunker in the 6th book.  That being that he would have to kill the destroyer. (Vehyron the freewill) A mission that was more or less meant to be a suspended death sentence.

Lord Alexander, (the 1st of the 1st coven) propels Bills entourage along with threats to make sure it actually happens.

Christie works with Bill to confront his inner demon and see if he can utilise it in the upcoming battle, Sally still has problems remembering Bill and the connection between them, and Sheila (the icon) links up with them to take down the destroyer together, as well as new mages joining Christie’s newly created coven.

On the way to Boston, the former base of operations for the east coast vampires, Bill and his entourage also chance upon mighty leader Turd of the Alma (sasquatches)  and an ensuing battle might also be on the table.

Bill also meets up with his former Dungeons & Dragons game mates who have been made vampires by his friend Dave (previously working as a medical student and secretely researching Vampire blood) who claims to be a ‘master vampire’.

Things that happen in this book  *** spoilers***

[ -Bill meets his Doctor Death personality face to face in his mind with the help of Christie
-The entourage meets Turd (leader of the Alma/ Sasquatches) and a battle happens for which Bill unleashes his Dark side, ie. Doctor Death and untterly destroys Turd by ripping out his spine.

-In the moments whilst turning, Doctor Death hints that he may not just be Bills reptilian/ anger side, but may be a much older vampire spirit or something displaced into Bill upon his turning into a vampire.

-Gan’s army comes to the rescue of Bill and his entourage

-Vehyron the destroyer is revealed to have the power of being able to stay in the sun for up to 1 hour. (thus explaining his tattoos) then also revealed that one of his names is thus ‘The Sun Strider]

-Tom dies at the hands of Vehyron, and somehow his soul gets put into the body of a toy.

-Bill’s entourage meets Vehyron the Destoryer, and Bill manages to kill him by himself, without having to use his Doctor Death transformation.  Yet in doing so in a way that would normally mean committing suicide / kamikaze by being in close proximity to a vest lined with explosives that is draped over Vehyron’s head, it seems the Doctor Death power kicked in to save Bill’s life.

-Since that moment Bill can see without his glasses

– Vehyron the destroyer is revealed to be a member of the Cult of Ib.

-Ib & Kalar + the white mother all revealed to be the same person = Kalibra, who is actually the revered ancient Magi, but also the 1st Vampire, thus must be thousands of years old, and what the cult of Ib is all about.
She is also revealed to be the creator of the Jahabish / Jahavish (white rock monsters with orange eyes)
Also known as the 1st female demon –Lilith by the Templar.

-Kalar the white is thus the new enemy going forward ]

Favourite quotes:
The scene where Bill is describing himself fighting Doctor Death (ie. Himself in his mind)  ‘My right fist aiming for his incredibly manly yet intelligent looking face’   hahah.  Nice.

Conversation with Bill about seeing if the Templar could trust him or not.

Fat Templar lady: “don’t think I don’t see any snakes in the garden”
Bill: “Just as I’m sure you’re unable to miss any pies in the oven”

Bill talking about the fat Templar lady: “I felt sorry for any kids that had to visit her over the holidays”

“He was a serious douche canoe”

“With a big ass mc mansion”

Bill to Sheila (describing why his D&D friends reacted in astonishment to Sheila and her sword:  “Your sword, I told them it was a + 5 holy avenger”

‘Ikeney or the erder ney.’    I actually have no idea what this is, but it seems to come up a lot.

Gan: “One does not make an omelette without the possibility of breaking some eggs”

[“Turd let out one last fart to let the underworld know he was on his way”]

Bill describing his lack of reasonable clothes: “I almost forgot that Sally and I looked like we’d just been sent back in time in a terminator movie and only had time to divide 1 hobbo’s clothes between the 2 of us”

Ed being covered in Jabish orange goo
“You look like the guest of honour at a bukake festival”

‘White flame erupted from Vehyron’s back as if he was being doggy-styled by a magnesium flare’

Bill talking about Lord Alexander: “Goddam, what a walking fuck nozzle”

Voices/ Narration

Again everything is awesome.  Still there are some irregularities with Bill’s voice as the different editions were clearly mixed together.
The voices of the Alma (Sasquatches are great)
The voice in particular of Francois is amazing.  The French accent is like a cross between Monty Python & Blackadder inspired French characters

Recommendation

If you’ve come this far, then for sure you’ll be reading/ listening to book 7.
Plus, the fact that many things seem to be progressing, well it means it’s a very interesting book.
