This book….is interesting enough.
Just that.
I wouldn’t say it’s awesome….
I might not even say it’s good, but the redeeming quality is that the main concept for the story has potential.

We follow Jackson Blackwell, otherwise known as the Shadow Master who is the top villain adviser.  He’s made a business of advising villains across different realms…to take advantage of the people they enslave, helping them to defeat arch-enemy heroes etc.
He does this by knowing the rules of the realm and playing it to his advantage.

His own power is being able to create his own dimensions, & apparently being very rich to accumulate enough ‘items’

There being the potential for this book / series.. the fact that he might be able to go into each realm, exploit the rules and make for a more entertaining story.

The narration?
Again, its decent, but it’s not great.  I don’t know if that’s just because of the way of writing but it really feels like its spoken in a monotone voice a lot of the time.

In fact, I fell asleep a few times whilst listening to this.
To be fair, I had just had surgery and was probably on some pretty strong sleep inducing drugs…but this certainly didn’t help.

I think as well, the characters don’t have enough life written into them, they’re lacking excitement, and almost seem boring.

Recommendation?

Well… I think after all of this, I think the answer is very clearly no.

It’s not so bad that I would return it for the ‘great listen guarantee’ but it’s only just at that level.
I don’t think any of the people I know would enjoy this book…
… unless they need a book to go to sleep to, and to be fair…I have another book that I would recommend for that.

Oh yeah, the cover art is terrible.
But the reviews on audible were decent enough, turns out i don’t agree with all the reviews.
