A book to be talked about provided you take notes
Taken from my review on audible.com
What did you love best about The Tipping Point?
Provides the initial concept and explains it very well with many examples.
Progresses through the argument in a logical and succinct manner.
Comes back to main & critical points through many winding stories which back each other up.
The fact that its read by the author …and the author’s voice is quite decent means that it’s read with the enthusiasm at the right points in time for which the author intended to really extenuate his arguments.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
Its more of an information book, with will well researched arguments. I can’t think of anything that would make it more enjoyable.
Although its not a book that you should listen to in one go. More of a driving to work or sitting on the bus, walking home kind of book. 30 mins at a time is decent. Anything more than that and you get get overwhelmed by the information because there’s not enough time to really ponder what he’s arguing.
Needs many breaks in between.
Which scene was your favourite?
Explaining about the advertising company that the shoe company ‘Airwalk’ hired and their very innovative marketing strategies about getting the ‘cool kids’ to pick up on the fashion and start a trend with as least push/ effort as possible just by understanding how social tipping points work.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Read/ listen the book you lazy bastard. (yep that would actually be the tagline)
Any additional comments?
Would very much recommend this book. Especially to those that have read ‘Outliers’ .
Very interesting, very insightful, raises many talking points for friends and family alike.
