So, since the accident, well…let’s say since the surgery and getting out of hospital, because before that I was dealing with hospital stuff and heavily medicated,
Anyway, I have listened to MANY audio books, and I’ve watched a shit load of Might Car Mods, quite a few comedy stand-up things, been doing my physio exercises in order to make my recovery.
Why have I had so much time to do this?
Just because I haven’t been able to move very much. Staying at Josh’s place after getting out from hospital, I listened to a book (this one) review here) pretty much straight through. Plus ended up watching all of season 1 of the Grand Tour (new Top Gear thing on Amazon) with Josh, to kind of keep my spirits up, plus great to spend that time with Josh.
That audio book by the way, was about a city in which a super villain had taken over and made slavery legal, for which the main character has a super power that can ‘upgrade’ things he owns, …which just so happens also turns out to be the slaves he owns.
Once you get over this, obviously quite controversial topic…the book is actually really good.
1st week at Josh’s place, I was literally just laying in bed, sleeping, taking pain meds, and doing the small physio exercises I was given.
The after returning to the Netherlands I haven’t been to work. I’ve done some work from home, and I’ve been in to give a presentation that only I could give to a guy from our most important client. But that’s it.
The main reason being that everything still hurts.
On the advice of my housemate Mareen who is training to become a doctor… I’ve been practising walking a lot more, or more than the doctors in china originally suggested + doing my normal exercises and I’ve been making very fast progress.
I can’t ride a motorbike yet, which is my normal transport to work, and would have to catch a bus/ train to work…which also involves walking a whole heap…which…to be honest would just put me backwards in the recovery.
SO… I’ve got permission to just rest at home.
Plus, the thing that seems to be helping me the most is just sleeping, when I’m slightly tired I take a nap. It really is THIS that’s helped the most.
If I need to take a nap, …well I can’t really if I’m at work.
!st week, my ribs hurt a lot, every time I had to sit up in bed, obviously you use your stomach muscles, but the muscles between the ribs compress a little… and for me this was really painful. It meant that before I sat up, I really had to concentrate, it’s a really weird feeling.
So Netherlands, and not being at work. Might Car Mods! And lots of it.
I’ve got a few people into this show, and a few years back my brother even bought me the sticker kit which I’ve since put on my bike here in the Netherlands. CHOPPED!
But hopefully Adrien & Josh will be into it soon.
My favourite episode recently is the 3000 dollar turbo car challenge, where in 1 of their challenges they have to do a slalom course whilst brushing their teeth with wasabi. I’ts hilarious! Watch it here.
Mighty Car Mods, is for people that really love cars and just love everything about them, especially making things better for yourself…obviously by the name, modifying them and want to know how to do things by themselves. Plus the 2 friends that do it have great chemistry as well.
TopGear / The Grand Tour is more a show about the chemistry between Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond & James May. It’s a show that my mum would watch… because it’s not so much about cars, as it is about their chemistry. But my mum wouldn’t watch Might Car Mods for instance.
For audio books, I’ve also listened to Run Program, by Scott Meyer;
Villains Rule: The Shadow Master, Book 1 by K. Gibson
Almost Infamous by Matt Carter again, which I apparently didn’t write a review for… I’ll be doing that soon.
Plus I’ve just started All these World’s , the 3rd and final book in the Bobiverse series. A series I seriously recommend. In fact I’ve been slowly listening to that now because I don’t want it to end.

More importantly I think, is that since the accident I’ve had a lot more communication with my brother, which is awesome. And he’s managed to finish listening to Ready Player One, which I think he enjoyed, plus the Edward Snowden book, + the 1st 2 books of Off to be the Wizard (my absolute favourite books series that I’ve listened to many times before, and he’s on the 3rd book in the series at the moment.

He told me a line which I love from the 1st book. “Cluge was wearing a chain-mail vest, for which he’d most likely stolen it from a man that has since realised that a chain-mail vest does not provide protection from a punch in the face”
Hahahah love that book.
I’ve also been watching a few comedians. Namely this guy:
Funny, but I’ve got to the point in time…where I’m actually thinking ‘alright…I think I’ve had enough of YouTube…I actually want to get stuff done’
Thus catching up on some articles, and thinking about what I really want to do.
One of the things is a potential career change. I’ll write a separate article about that.
But it would involve going back to Australia, and have been thinking about what I want to get done here before that, which involves all the articles caught up, and all the videos caught up etc.
So expect many more to be coming in the next few days.
