So, this book….
If you’re a huge Star Wars fan like myself, you’re going to be buying and listening to this, regardless of how good….or (emphasis) not, it is. And regardless of whether I, myself didn’t think it was that good.
It’s a tie in novel.
Nothing much happens, but give you some context… but still… it’s pretty damn slow.
The narration and voice acting wasn’t bad, it just that the story was so slow at the start.
Audible has a great feature called it’s ‘Great listen guarantee’ where you’re allowed to return a book no questions asked.

For the 1st quarter I was thinking I would be doing this….because it is just so damn slow.
Like Ahsoka is just meeting people, she’s a mechanic, she makes friends… who cares? She was one fo the most powerful Jedi Padawans in the Star Wars Clone Wars story arc. She was one of the most promising characters.
For those of you that don’t know, Ahsoka featured heavily in Star Wars Clone Wars (cartoon) because she was the Padawan of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, as we all know the one that turns into Darth Vader. She was incredibly powerful for her age, she learnt the more unconventional (for a Jedi) thinking that Anakin taught her. And in a couple of episodes where she was falsely accused of a crime, whereby Anakin never gave up on her, despite the entire Jedi council willing to believe that she was guilty to the manipulations of Palpatine, she ended up losing faith in the Jedi council’s teaching, and ventured off on her own.
This book aims to explore a bit more about what Ahsoka has been up to before joining Star Wars Rebels (cartoon) however it doesn’t cover nearly enough as you would hope it would.
In fact it seems like in most of this book she has given up on using the force altogether, which is arguably the most interesting thing about Star Wars.
I think those that are fans of the expanded universe of Star Wars love everything to do with exploring the powers of the force, the Sith & the Jedi and what not, and those that love the original 3 movies (4,5, 6_ enjoy the actual story line. Because let’s face it… they don’t actually use the force that much in those movies.
So I think this book has more to do with the new Star Wars kind of theme… it’s a bit boring and a bit repetitive. For those who are fans of the expanded universe…this book is definitely too slow. But I’m not sure this is the author’s fault, maybe the fact that it was directed to be this slow.
I think it needs a better book. Just something where she has an actual adventure.
I think a ‘just after she left’ book would be great, and 1 where she has an actual adventure and progresses with the force would be decent too.
But this, just tying off loose ends… is a bit boring to be honest.
I am looking forward to a truly good book though that explores Jedi’s or Sith exploring different elements of the force… but maybe I have to just keep holding on.
Would I recommend it?
Overall- no.
If you’re a huge Star Wars fan. You’re going to buy it anyway, but trust me, its not that good.
If you’re not a Star Wars fan, then the answer is a definite no.
