**this is not a proper review**   just to remind myself of what happened before moving onto the next book.

What happens in this book?  How does the overall story progress?

Bill is recruited into Pandora Coven, and Sally starts training him in Judo to become a more capable warrior in his standard form + starts conditioning him to injury.  Ed is given an honorary place in Pandora Coven as well, as he has ‘vampire musk’ about him, yet it not a vampire and exhibits very difference characteristics.

The Jahavish, the big stone monsters with glowing orange eyes start coordinating themselves and break through the gate connecting Pandora Coven with the Las Vegas Sewer tunnels, capturing Ed, of the ‘pure one’ as they refer to him as.
Bill, Sally, some mages and a few other vampires form a rescue party and go deep into the tunnels.  There they learn the Jahavish are far more prepared and organised.  Mark makes a return a one of the Jahavish yet his personality can shine through individually even though most Jahavish operate on a hive mentality.

They get captured and are taken to a huge chamber deep underground where the Stone monsters are turning other captured creatures including the Grendel into more like them.

They narrowly escape only to be immediately arrested and taken to a Vampire Nation bunker/ stronghold attended by all 13 of the Draculas (1st Coven members) + many other creatures on the vampire’s side, including Dru-aga (1 of the 7 gods of the underworld) to be trialled for assisting the Icon.  Alex proves his manipulating, conniving and strategizing which will allow him to become the 1 and only vampire leader. The cult of Ib attack with what looks like being in league with the Jahavish, and begin to decimate the stronghold.

Factions are formed and eventually the Jahavish are forced back.  Bill and his friends are tasked by Joshua (1 of the 1st coven) to storm Vehyron’s stronghold in Boston, in effect acting as a delayed death sentence.

Sally has been compelled by Alexander to forget Bill and their adventures and thus turns against them for a while.

Memorable moment- Bill compelling Robert (Sheila’s new boyfriend) “you have erectile dysfunction”)
