What did I think?

Marvellous continuation of the series!

So I’ve included some of my review that I posted on Audible, but also added a bit extra to explain some of the things I liked most.

You can read my review on Audible here:  http://www.audible.com/listener/AQ8GDB9XPEP4I?asin=B01KP2IAP4

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, but you should obviously read / listen to the 1st 2 books.

Also in this book there is a full-on war that takes place on the Lander campus, and you get to see /hear many unregistered Supers going head to head with the Lander staff and the students.  Really interesting to listen to.

Who was your favourite character and why?

Globe.  His character is getting quite interesting.

Globe is the illegitimate father of Vince, who is one of the most powerful main characters, or at least has the potential to be- he is an energy absorber & re-distributor.

Globe is introduced in Year 2 (I think) as a villain, however not much was known about the character, as while his back story says that he killed a team mate, it doesn’t really delve into why.

There are many things that are left unclear about Globe, but in Year 2 & this Year 3 his origins and powers are described a bit more, however not completely described as the book hints that a lot of people, even those most close to him don’t know the full extent of his power.

His power however is that he can control EVERYTHING in a certain sphere around him. Including healing, chemicals in the brain to make people relaxed, or agitated or whatever… he can fly, he can turn himself invisible and a myriad of other things.

In this book we hear a bit more about the team he is gathering and it blurs the lines a bit more as to who the ‘real bad guys’ are.

I’m honestly hoping that this whole story takes a turn that has several soon-to-be heroes deciding to break off from the heroes class to ‘do the right thing’ but end up labelled as villains like Globe because it is not the mainstream thing to do.

I think the characters Nick (controls luck), Will (techno genius), Vince, and actually the rest of the Super Powereds could make that jump and it’d be incredibly interesting to see that progress.

My previous favourite character was Nick because even though his power is quite weak compared to the rest he make up for it with his intellect and strategy, however in this book where he spends most of it trying to recover his memory his character went downhill a bit.  Globe though presents a much more interesting potential story.

I really enjoyed Roy’s character development too since he’s been training with Hank, and if you read the tie-in story ‘Corpies’ about Roy & Hershel’s father Titan, then I think you can really see the potential of this character.

Which character – as performed by Kyle McCarley – was your favourite?

— Same

I think all the voice acting is really good, and the way he narrates in general adds a lot to the book.  Really enjoyed every character, so the answer is much the same as above, because every character performed seems to be equally good.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not really 1 moment, just that the whole book, all 40 or so hours of it was awesome.  I was just so glad to be listening and realising that there were much more to go.

Actually there was a moment, and that’s Titan standing up for his son Roy.  Having listened to the Corpies book, which centred around Titan is was great to see this character make an appearance in Year 3.

Any additional comments?

Can’t wait for Year 4 to come out.

The entire series can be READ on Drew Hayes’ website for free however the audiobook version just adds so much value to it I think.

That being said, this book series is that good that I may take up proper reading again and fully check out his website.

Will be having a listen to everything else this author writes I think.
