I recently returned a couple of books that I bought and finished, and traded in for a compilation book… that I had actually originally requested from audible.

So, I traded these, in for this.
Which is in fact the compilation of those books. So I still have that in my library. Which is great because the story was so good that I may want to listen to it again.
So I was refunded 3 credits. And decided to get a few of the titles I’ve had in my wish list for some time.
Namely these books: History’s Great Military Blunders and the lessons they teach by Professor Gregory S. Aldrete, PhD
I love military strategy, because generally it represents the best of strategy in general that you can see happening over a relatively short period of time. As compared to country forming, conquering etc. There’s a lot to learn from such military strategy, and of course the blunders that have been made, so I’m hoping to gain some insight into not just what to do and what not to do, but how the people assigned to developing major strategy actually think, and how the real world can end up changing the desired outcome.
Strategy- A History by Lawrence Freedman
Again. For exactly the same reasons, but I assume this is not just about military history. Nor just about the blunders.
This book is 32 hours long… so it might be a while before I actually finish this, but I’m still looking forward to it.

Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky
Here’s the publisher’s summary:
Adrian Tchaikovksy’s critically acclaimed stand-alone novel Children of Time is the epic story of humanity’s battle for survival on a terraformed planet.
Who will inherit this new Earth?
The last remnants of the human race left a dying Earth, desperate to find a new home among the stars. Following in the footsteps of their ancestors, they discover the greatest treasure of the past age – a world terraformed and prepared for human life.
But all is not right in this new Eden. In the long years since the planet was abandoned, the work of its architects has borne disastrous fruit. The planet is not waiting for them pristine and unoccupied. New masters have turned it from a refuge into mankind’s worst nightmare.
Now two civilizations are on a collision course, both testing the boundaries of what they will do to survive. As the fate of humanity hangs in the balance, who are the true heirs of this new Earth?

Sounds interesting.
Oh yeah, and on the 21st / 23rd of November my pre-order of Drew Hayes latest book will come through, so also really looking forward to that.
It’s called 2nd Hand Curses.
I honestly don’t care what it’s about, because everything he’s written so far is gold, but if it‘s got something to do with magic and curses…then I’m sure its going to be amazing as well.
